January Meeting Minutes
At Crown & Anchor
Attendance: 15
January 9th
Mount Bonnell Clean-up Day
· Date: January 19, 2008 (Rain date is January 26)
· Time: 9:00am – 1:00pm
· Volunteers planning to participate: Gary, Mike, Karl V, Shelley, Tommy, Eric, Roni, Karen Owens and John Dwyer
ERock
· Week days are closed for hunting through hunting season
· Weekends are open
Reimer’s North Shore Update
· Access to North Shore is in exchange for CTM mapping and building trails to the area
· Tommy and Bill Gooch took GPS readings in December – working with county to create a map
· An infrequently used black diamond level bike trail goes part of the way
· Work to begin in the next couple of months
2008 LIMESTONER CLIMBING COMPETITION MINUTES
(Augmented with Karl V’s notes and replies since Shelley’s email)
CLINICS:
· *510 clinic by Austin Rock Gym - top ropes set up on all the best 5.10's, 5.11's and 5.12's (though we should make sure this does not interfere with the rock about clinic, see where they want to be)
· Rock About Clinic - some rope management, some rope tricks, some anchor building, some rescue stuff
· Boone Speed Clinic – bouldering
· ARG and Rock About Clinics are from 8:30-11:30 am on Sunday - meet at 8:15am in the parking lot - cost $15 for each
· Boone Speed Clinic - 12:00-3:00 on Sunday - meet at 11:45 in the parking lot - cost $30
· Inventory of 30 registrants via PayPal – John Dwyer and Gary to research; when full put a note on the web site; may make a wait list on day of for cancellations
TIME TABLE:
· Collect packets/pay registration: 7:30am -8:45am (Roni proposes an end at 8:30am)
· Competitors meeting: 9am (Roni proposes 8:45am)
· Competition: 9am-4pm (turn in score cards down at Eight Flake) (Roni proposes 4:30pm - must adjust speed comp and dinner accordingly, if accepted)
· Speed climbing comp: 4:15 - about 5:00
· Dinner: 5:00-6:30 (Betsy found a place she said is very reliable and has high recommendations for being on time. we will also include a clause that says something like $1 off per minute they are late, or something like that)
· Slideshows and prizes to follow (who will set up slideshow and announce prizes?)
FYI - Sunset for Saturday March 1st is projected at 6:30pm and March 8th is when the time change occurs
DINNER:
· BBQ for us meat lovers - they say you can go through the line twice - I’ll make sure there are tickets available for people to purchase or if they have pre purchased, to pick up. Price: $10 adult, $7 kids (12 and under)
· Vegetarian option - we are still working on this, same price as above
· (Betsy - can you send out the name of the BBQ place again?)
· Roni suggested Taco Deli, Betsy research; Maria’s was mentioned, but that Jennifer hadn’t gotten back to anyone as to whether or not she has contacted them
BEER:
· Must follow up with Blanco on logistics and quantity of beer
SPONSORS:
· Gary to follow up with North Face; Roni may try to contact as well
VOLUNTEERS (day of)
· Registration - Shelley, Luke, Kita (Shelley to get cash for registration change)
· Speed Climbing Comp – Tommy
· Sport Climbing Tally Scores – Stan
· Bouldering Tally Scores – Shelley
· Announcement of Winners – Luke (Karl G as backup since Stan will likely be busy with scores)
· Dinner Organization - Betsy (Betsy - I’ll make sure there are tickets, so you don’t' have to worry about this)
· Score Cards/Route Lists/paper plate signs - Luke/Tommy to finalize by 1st weekend in February, and Shelley will make copies
· Slide show setup and take down – Stan
· Bouldering Setup – Tommy and Luke to update route list/points and label with paper plates on day of
· Bouldering reps during competition to hang around bouldering area – Tommy, Evan Jackson (Roni says Karl G and Robby will likely help)
· Silent auction – (Roni says Louie will oversee)
· Clean up – NEED VOLUNTEERS
