Next Meeting: Saturday, May 10
Please note NEW TIME: 10:30 a.m. at Backwoods (Hill Country Galleria)
Come hear about what we've been up to, and a brief presentation by John Hogge about the new guidebook. CTM Members can enjoy their 15% discount on climbing gear! After the meeting (weather permitting), join us for a tour of the newly opened North Shore areas of Reimers Ranch. If you've been curious about North Shore, this is a great opportunity for first-time visitors!

Announcing the new CTM Routes Committee (formerly RRCC) These folks were elected by CTM members to manage existing routes and consider new routes for all the areas CTM covers, including Reimers and the Barton Creek Greenbelt. Congratulations to the 2012 Committee:
Tommy Blackwell
Rona Distenfeld
Neil Higa
John Hogge
Karl Vochatzer
New Wall (Barton Creek Greenbelt): Yep, still CLOSED...
Significant movement has been observed in the rock in the area between Meet the Flintstones and Hysteria. There is a significant risk that the roof could come down. Because of this risk, park officials closed the entire area, including the access trail between the "v" gates. Parks staff will prosecute trespassers. The rest of the greenbelt is open to climbing. Please help us keep it that way by avoiding this area until further notice.
Parks staff have kept CTM involved at every step. They are working with engineers to develop a plan to remove the rock face near the affected routes (everything between Meet the Flintstones and Hysteria). We will continue to post updated information here and on the climbing forums, so stay tuned.
Click here for video showing New Wall changes as of 2/8/2012.

Upcoming Trail Projects
|
Saturday, June 2: National Parks Day! (9-11:30 am)
CTM, in cooperation with Austin Parks Foundation, will hold a trail work day on the Barton Creek Greenbelt, location TBD. Please sign up on the APF site if you can (link to be forthcoming), or just show up. We'll be moving rock, so wear closed shoes and bring gloves and rock tools if you have 'em. We have plenty if you don't.
Interested in bolting?
If you are interested in learning about or helping with route maintenance, contact Tommy to get on the mailing list to find out about maintenance outings.

To receive notices about CTM events
|
|
CTM acts on significant access issues that affect our sport locally: Enchanted Rock, the Austin Greenbelt, Reimer's Ranch, Hueco Tanks, McKinney Falls, and the Pecos are all areas where access to climbing has been secured or is under negotiation. The club also sponsors social events, slide shows, and climbing competitions. CTM is a grassroots club, and the meetings, events, and planning committees are open to everyone. One doesn’t have to join to voice an opinion or make a proposal, to volunteer for workdays at the crags, or to enjoy our sponsored events, but joining IS encouraged.
